The average age of entry into the sex trade in Canada is 12-13 years of age…
…You can make a difference! By volunteering your time for the Joy Smith Foundation, you are becoming part of the fight to end human trafficking in Canada. We need volunteers with all levels of experience!
The Joy Smith Foundation puts on a variety of events throughout the year to raise awareness of human trafficking and to raise funds to support Survivors. We need volunteers to look after the table and the sale of our products at our events and Joy Smith’s many speaking engagements.
Ride for Refuge
Our next big event is the Ride for Refuge on September 29, 2018. This is our largest annual fundraiser, and we’re looking for Team Captains and participants to Ride and Walk anywhere in Canada in support of JSF! Learn More.
We believe the most effective way to suppress human trafficking is through advocacy and raising awareness. One of the best ways to get the word out and educate others is to organize a screening of our documentary in your community. Screenings have already been held in cities and towns in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta! Get in touch with us if you would like to request a speaker for a Q&A session following the screening.
We are now training volunteers to present in schools about human trafficking using our educational materials. Training is taking place throughout 2019 in Alberta, Manitoba, BC, and via Skype sessions for volunteers in other provinces.
We so appreciate individual efforts to support our work and spread our message! We have had passionate volunteers present ideas they would like to put into action as fundraising events. Funds raised are allocated toward public education within the province in which the money was raised, and toward grants to frontline organizations that rescue and rehabilitate victims of human trafficking.
Volunteering your time and efforts in any capacity is greatly appreciated!
Please be advised that depending on what role you wish to participate in, volunteers may be required to complete a Criminal Record check at the discretion of the Board.
